Lekko manufactures single-use products. Purpose of the products and the related requirements on hygiene only allow single use. At the same time we are fully aware that minimizing impact on the environment is top of mind. Re-use or recycling is unfortunately not always possible due to strict hygiene requirements or unacceptable risks such as cross contamination. Choice of materials is key.
To ensure informed choices, we initiate research projects to assess the impact of our materials and possible more sustainable alternatives. During the past years, in collaboration with Wageningen University and Delft Technical University we have done several research projects on materials, their impact and compared the materials along sustainability requirements. In addition, we initated projects to compare alternative options for packaging.
